Wolverhampton Wanderers has given the boot to manager Vitor Pereira, with the team languishing at the bottom of the Premier League table. The decision comes hot on the heels of Pereira, 57, being awarded a new three-year contract.
The dismal 3-0 defeat away to Fulham on Saturday was the last straw, leaving Wolves marooned at the foot of the table with no victories from their first 10 matches.
Pereira made nine alterations to his starting line-up from the squad that was knocked out by Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, but they failed to spark a win at Craven Cottage.
Wolves spent more than half the match with 10 men following Emmanuel Agbadou's 36th-minute sending off, but were already trailing 1-0 at that point.
Harry Wilson then added to Ryan Sessegnon's early goal before a Yerson Mosquera own goal rounded off the thrashing and marked the end of Pereira's 11-month tenure.
Appointed in December 2024 to fill the shoes of Gary O'Neill, the Portuguese guided Wolves to safety last season. However, the departure of star player Matheus Cunha after Manchester United activated his release clause was a severe setback.
Wolves' only triumphs this season came in the Carabao Cup, both on home turf. They overcame West Ham 3-2 in the second round before backing that up with a 2-0 win over Everton.

The former Porto, Olympiacos and Fenerbahce manager was given a two-game lifeline by the Wolves board, but they've now decided to part ways and have begun the search for a new boss.
Speaking after the game, he said: "Tactically, technically, physically, we weren’t good enough. I don’t know why. We all need to take responsibility for this.
