World class conversations and confidence – All the key stats from Torino 2-3 AC Milan

8 hours ago 20

For the first time since the 2020/21 season, AC Milan have won a game against Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

A lot can be said about Monday’s win, and there are certainly some positives and negatives. Ultimately, Milan started the game poorly and had to fight to get anything from it. On another day, maybe most other days, the result is not viewed in the same light.

Nevertheless, a wonderstrike from Adrien Rabiot and a brace from Christian Pulisic mean that a win can be looked at.

Here are the key stats from the 3-2 win against Toro.

Key stats

The big stats are the key ones from the game, which can be seen below. Considering how the game went, it is no surprise that the Diavolo saw more of the ball and had more shots on goal, given they were chasing.

Nevertheless, for three big chances to result in three goals is nice, even if one of those chances was missed. Though the fact that 17 shots resulted in only six on target is not fantastic, it has to be said…

What is also interesting is the fact that the Rossoneri were 4-0 down in terms of shots by the time they had their first. It took until the 24th minute, four minutes after the second goal, to have their first attempt.

Is it a coincidence that this was Rabiot’s goal? Probably not.

Pulisic’s level

In the past few years, a question has been regularly asked. When is it time to speak about Pulisic’s quality? Of course, it is known that he is one of the best in Serie A, and he has been potentially in the European conversation.

However, it cannot be avoided anymore.

As OptaPaolo reports, he has the second-best goal-to-minute ratio in the top five leagues, falling only behind Harry Kane, who averages a goal every 59 minutes. The American follows behind with a goal every 64 minutes, and Robert Lewandowski rounds off the top three at an average of 80 minutes per goal.

Pulisic is in elite company – and to be more specific, elite striker company. There needs to be a serious conversation had about his level, and in turn, the speed of a renewal.

Rabiot’s rocket

Rabiot’s goal came from the first Milan shot of the game, and a lot can be said about that. Sensing an opportunity, the Frenchman pulled the trigger and scored one of the nicest goals that we have seen this season.

29 – Adrien #Rabiot has scored with a shot by 29 meters; the previous AC Milan goal with a longer distance in Serie A was netted by Keisuke Honda since 30 meters on 14th February 2016 against Genoa. Lightning.#TorinoMilan #SerieA pic.twitter.com/KV169xAmB6

The goal came from 29 metres out, which is the furthest goal scored by a Rossoneri player since February 2016, when Keisuke Honda bagged from 30 metres out. A phenomenal strike and a great moment to kickstart a comeback.
