Artem Dovbyk has been heavily linked with a move to AC Milan in recent months, but the Ukrainian may not be heading to San Siro.
In the summer, Dovbyk’s name repeatedly came back to Milan and it seemed that they could even make a move for the striker at the end of the window. The deal could have even included Santiago Gimenez going the other way, but nothing happened.
Instead, both remained, and there have been several suggestions that their fates would have been different had they chosen to move.
Unfortunate timing
Now, six months on, the links between the Rossoneri and Dovbyk are back alive. However, with Niclas Fullkrug’s signing almost complete, a deal seems unlikely. There is no shortage of interest, and Gianluca Di Marzio has offered some insight into the situation on his website.
“Everton are pushing for Dovbyk, but he’d like to continue playing in Italy. And there could be opportunities in our league, too.
“Como are first and foremost interested in him, having considered him but not yet making the move. But an opportunity could also arise between Napoli and Milan.

“A swap deal with Lucca could be considered with the Azzurri, while the Rossoneri had already courted the Ukrainian in the summer. The deal would be difficult because Milan have already signed Fullkrug, but that move had made an impression on the player, who would welcome the move.”
Whether he could enter the mix again if Christopher Nkunku leaves is another thing entirely. Right now, though, it surely won’t happen.
