Newcastle United is hopeful of getting a deal over the line for the Brentford striker Yoane Wissa for a fee of around $47 million (£35 million), with Liverpool and Alexander Isak awaiting potential developments.
According to Sky Sports, Brentford is looking to sign Bournemouth’s Dango Ouattara, who is open to that switch. If that is done, then it would pave the way for Wissa — and possibly Isak.
Eddie Howe has been chasing Wissa, who scored 19 goals in the Premier League last season, for some time. The player views the chance of moving to St James' Park to play Champions League soccer as one that he doesn't want to miss.
Until now, Brentford, which has already lost manager Thomas Frank to Spurs and Bryan Mbuemo to Manchester United, did not want to sell another key man. However, Wissa was insistent that he wanted out.
In addition to Wissa, there might be other movement for Newcastle soon too. According to Sky Germany, after missing out on Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United, Newcastle is now in talks with PSG for Randal Kolo Muani.
The French forward was on loan at Juventus last season and the Italian side would like to keep him. But a Premier League switch might also be appealing to the former Eintracht Frankfurt ace.
If Howe's side could get both Wissa and Kolo Muani over the line, it might then be in a position to soften its Isak stance. So far, the Swede hasn't returned to training with his teammates.
"You have to earn the right to train with us," Howe told the Daily Mail last weekend. "We are Newcastle United.
"The player has a responsibility here to be part of a team and part of a squad — you have to act in the right way. So that is also at play here.
"We will make sure that any player does that to earn the right to train with the group. No player can expect to act poorly and train with the group as normal."

Earlier, it was reported by The Athletic that Newcastle was also considering a move for the 21-year-old FC Porto attacker Samu Aghehowa. Formerly known as Samu Omorodion, he scored 19 goals in 30 games in Portugal last season.
Liverpool.com says: There's no suggestion that Aghehowa is at the same level as Isak right now, but he's a little closer to the profile of the Swede from back when Newcastle first signed him, having spent time honing his craft at a couple of top European clubs.
Previously, Aghehowa played for Atletico Madrid but failed to break through there. He then ignited elsewhere, a bit like Isak, who spent time at Borussia Dortmund but couldn't stake a proper claim in Germany.
