Gianluca Zambrotta, who spent many years at both AC Milan and Juventus, has shared his thoughts on the big clash tomorrow.
Zambrotta made a proper name for himself in Serie A with Juventus. He spent seven years at the club, winning two Scudetti, and then moved abroad to Barcelona in 2006. He didn’t stay long, though, returning to Italy and Milan in 2008.
As most of you know already, he was part of the Milan squad that won the Scudetto in 2010/11 and made 20 appearances that season (all from start). In short, he knows what it means to play for the Rossoneri and the Bianconeri, as well as in the fixture between the two.
Speaking to today’s edition of La Stampa, as transcribed by TuttoJuve, the former full-back shared his thoughts on the game, the flanks of each team and the start to the season. Above all, he praises Alexis Saelemaekers.
You spent many years at both clubs…
” I don’t think you ever get used to watching matches like Milan-Juventus, top-level matches played by great teams. Every time, it brings back wonderful memories from both the black and white and the red and black jerseys.”
On each team’s flanks…
“I really like Saelemaekers. He has started the season very well and he brings something extra on the flank. I have also been impressed by Bartesaghi, a young player who has carved out a place for himself both in the past and now under Allegri.

“As for Juventus, I think Kalulu and Cambiaso will play. Cambiaso is a player I know well and I really like his versatility: he’s always ready and can adapt to multiple roles. Kalulu, on the other hand, is deployed in a role that isn’t his usual position, but he still manages to provide defensive solidity.”
Are Juve in a crisis of sorts with all the draws?
“Juventus don’t seem to be in crisis to me. It’s true that they are coming from four consecutive draws and more is expected, but they are still up there in the standings. Tudor is making a lot of changes to find balance and that takes time. We are only at the start of the season. ”
On Allegri…
“Allegri is a much more experienced coach today. He won a lot with Juve and now has a much broader tactical as well as dressing room management. Compared to his Milan days, I see him more emotionally involved in the game.
“Those outbursts when his suit jackets go flying… You didn’t see them back then! That said, given what he’s showing, you can’t argue with his quality as a coach,” he concluded.
If you haven’t already, you should take a look at the video that has been making the rounds in recent days, showing Allegri’s reaction to various incidents in the Milan-Napoli clash.
