Alan Shearer has insisted that every remaining game for Liverpool this season is “huge”, starting with today’s clash against Brighton.
The Reds have the chance to strengthen their hold on the Premier League’s top five, which could be enough to secure a place in next season’s Champions League. Arne Slot’s side will have seen that Manchester United slipped up at Bournemouth on Friday, which opens the door a little more on the race for spots at Europe’s top table.
With Chelsea and Aston Villa playing later this weekend, Liverpool can make sure it holds on to a place in the top five with a victory on the south coast.

Liverpool is the only team out of the four contenders that is still in three competitions, with Champions League and FA Cup commitments to deal with.
Shearer feels that every game now is a big one as Slot’s side looks to secure European qualification, while also trying to win a piece of silverware. The former Newcastle and England striker though is not convinced about their chances against Brighton, even after the midweek win over Galatasaray.
“Liverpool’s league form has gone flat,” Shearer told Betfair. “Their performances are flat in the league. You don't know what you're going to get.

“It all goes on to the international break after this weekend as well, so it's important that you don't sit on a poor result for two weeks.
“It's a difficult one to predict. What Liverpool are going to turn up? Is it the one that you saw in midweek or is it the one that you saw against Spurs?
“It is a huge game for Liverpool. Every game that they play now is huge because you can't spend that amount of money, win the league and then finish outside the Champions League places. It’s not acceptable and the manager will know what that means.”

Despite facing such a big opportunity to lay down a marker to its rivals for the top five, Shearer has predicted that Liverpool will only draw at Brighton.
That might not cost the Reds too much though. Shearer has also predicted Chelsea’s game at Everton, and has backed Liverpool’s neighbor to pick up a win, which would come as a huge boost.
What’s more, he also predictes that Villa will drop points against West Ham on Sunday, which would result in Liverpool remaining in fifth heading into the international break, while pulling another point clear of Chelsea.
