Andy Robertson has warned his Liverpool team-mates that the Reds must improve dramatically if they are to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday.
Liverpool lost 2-1 to Wolves when the sides met at Molinuex on Tuesday, with Andre’s injury-time strike proving decisive. A quirk of the fixture schedule means Arne Slot’s side heads back down the M6 just three days later for a rematch with the Midlands opponent in the FA Cup.
Robertson started on the bench on midweek but is among several changes Slot could make for the fifth-round tie. And despite Wolves’ lowly position in the table, Robertson has warned the Reds must vastly improve when they face Wolves for a second time.

“You don’t win many games of football playing the way we did. I think we probably put intensity into the game a bit too late.
“I thought the first half kind of lacked intensity. Then the game, in the last 10 minutes, kind of turned into a basketball match.”

Wolves has taken points off three top-six sides in recent weeks and, having endured a nightmare start to the season that will almost certainly consign the team to relegation, results have improved markedly under Rob Edwards.
Wolves has won five matches since the turn of the year, and there’s a renewed sense of belief around Molinex. Therefore, Friday’s game should not be taken lightly, claimed Liverpool’s vice-captain.
“We know, especially under this new manager, Wolves are competitive. It’s not Wolves that are 20th in the league,” said Robertson.
“They took three points off us, took three points off [Aston] Villa. They took a point off Arsenal recently in the league. They’re a team that are really difficult to beat at the minute.

“But we know it’s a tough place to be, it always has been. We know we need to play a lot better than we did the other night to get anything out of the game.
“That’s what we have been working towards since Tuesday night, and hopefully we can go and show that on Friday night.”
