Arne Slot has accused Jamie Carragher of exaggerating Liverpool's problems after the Reds were described as a "team of individuals."
Carragher claimed Slot's players were "not a team" on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football show while analyzing Liverpool's 1-1 draw against Tottenham. The Reds boss was asked about Carragher's comments during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
Liverpool will face Galatasaray at Anfield on Wednesday in the last 16 of the Champions League. Slot said: "I agree with a lot of things Jamie has said throughout this season. This particular one I don't agree with... a team that's given up, a team that doesn't work together doesn't show resilience."
Speaking about Liverpool a day earlier, Carragher said: "They're not a team, they're a team of individuals. Quality players, yes, but just been dropped in with no cohesion.
"You can see that on the clips, and that's what they lost. That is the most important thing for Liverpool, I don't think of some fancy team with superstar players. It's always been about top players, but being a team."
Liverpool is having a nightmare campaign under Slot, who guided the Reds to the Premier League title last year.
Slot's players are fifth in the Premier League table — 21 points behind Arsenal in first — leaving them in danger of missing out on Champions League qualification.
Liverpool has picked up just one point from its last two Premier League games against Wolves and Tottenham — two clubs at risk of relegation.
The Reds lost to Crystal Palace in both the Carabao Cup and the Community Shield, while they must overturn a one-goal deficit during the second leg of their Champions League tie against Galatasaray.
Liverpool has reached the quarterfinals of the FA Cup, but a trip to Manchester City awaits.
