Brazilian forward who loves Mohamed Salah makes Liverpool transfer dream public - 'One day'

LA Galaxy star Gabriel Pec, a Brazilian forward who has produced 50 goal contributions in 72 games for the MLS team, has admitted that a move to Liverpool would be his dream at some point in the future.

The 24-year-old, who was born in Rio de Janeiro, made 168 appearances for Vasco de Gama, the club that Philippe Coutinho currently plays for, before he made the move to the US. Pec has since established himself as a key man for LA Galaxy, where he was given a five-year Young Designated Player contract ahead of the 2024 season.

"I am very grounded and understand the level at which I am progressing and where I can go from here, then to the next level, where I can go after that... But I'll share a 'top' dream: I have a very strong desire in my heart to one day reach Liverpool," Pec told Lance.

"I don't know why, but l've developed a great affection for Liverpool. And seeing Mohamed Salah too, who is a guy I look up to in football.

"The fans and the stadium... I've grown a great fondness for Liverpool, a strong desire to one day, God willing, wear Liverpool's jersey."

Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Xherdan Shaqiri are among the Liverpool players to have later played in MLS. The Reds were linked with a move for Jhon Duran, who was at Chicago Fire, when he played in the US before he moved to Aston Villa.

Duran is now at Fenerbahce in Turkey, on loan from the Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr, who he joined for a fee of around $96 million (£71 million) in the winter transfer window.

This summer, Liverpool has signed the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez. The Reds also hope that a deal for Alexander Isak will prove possible before the deadline arrives on Monday.

Failing to bring Isak in would leave Liverpool light of numbers, but Arne Slot is relaxed about the situation as things stand.

"It depends how you want to look at it," the Dutchman said ahead of Monday’s clash against Newcastle when he was asked about his side's lack of depth.

"If you want to add Florian Wirtz as an attacking option, then you can make it five, so yeah, we've sold Darwin [Nunez] and brought in Hugo. Lucho [Luis Diaz] has gone, you can maybe see Florian as a replacement for that.

"Yes, we all know what happened to Diogo [Jota]. If you look at it like this, maybe we haven't [got enough] but Jeremie Frimpong, when he is fit, is definitely an option to play as a winger as well, so then we end up at six forwards."

Liverpool.com says: It is no surprise that Pec wants to join Liverpool. He isn't the only one, though the level required to play for Arne Slot's side these days is incredibly high.
