Chelsea are on the lookout for yet another head coach after sacking Liam Rosenior earlier today
Chelsea are going to take their time to appoint a replacement for Liam Rosenior with Calum McFarlane set to take charge of the club on an interim basis until the end of the season. The Blues say they'll have 'a process of self-reflection to make the right long-term appointment.'
The Blues are on the hunt for their third permanent manager since the turn of the year, after sacking Enzo Maresca on New Year's Day, with his successor, Rosenior, lasting just four months at Stamford Bridge.
A club statement read: "Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Liam Rosenior. On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, we would like to place on record our gratitude to Liam and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the club.
"Liam has always conducted himself with the highest integrity and professionalism following his appointment midway through the season. This has not been a decision the club has taken lightly, however recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards with still so much more to play for this season. Everyone at Chelsea FC wishes Liam every success in the future.
"Calum McFarlane will take charge of the team as Interim Head Coach until the end of the season with support from existing club backroom staff, as we strive to achieve European qualification and progress in the FA Cup. As the club works to bring stability to the head coach position, we will undertake a process of self-reflection to make the right long-term appointment."
Although McFarlane will be in charge of proceedings until the end of the season, there already several high profile managers being linked with the role by the bookmakers. With that in mind, football.london has taken a look at some of the Bet365 frontrunners to take over at Stamford Bridge this summer:
Cesc Fabregas - 5/2
Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has emerged as the early bookmakers favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge this summer having impressed with Serie A side Como 1907. The Spanish head coach guided the club from the Serie B to the Serie A, winning promotion in 2024.
The Italian side have gone from strength to strength and are in contention for European football this season. As things stand, Como are in fifth place, in the Europa League spot.
Fabregas' stock has risen drastically in the past two years, having originally started out as a youth coach at the Italian club. He's currently the favourite to take over in the summer at 5/2.
Andoni Iraola - 7/2
Outgoing Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is also among the favourites to take over at Stamford Bridge after his departure from the Cherries was confirmed earlier this month.
Iraola has been linked with several top-flight clubs, including Manchester United and Newcastle United, while seemingly ruling out a return to Athletic Bilbao.
Filipe Luis - 9/2
Former Chelsea defender Filipe Luis has emerged as a surprise contender for the vacant position. The former Brazilian defender won the Copa Libertadores in 2025 among several other honours at Flamengo.
His departure in March 2026 caused quite a stir, with the ex-Chelsea man one of the most exciting young coaches in world football.
He's at 9/2 to take over at Stamford Bridge this summer according to Bet365.
Diego Simeone - 8/1
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has been repeatedly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent years, but has remained loyal to the La Liga side.
There's ongoing speculation about his future in Madrid and it comes as no surprise to see him linked with a move to Chelsea again following Rosenior's departure.
He's currently at 8/1 to take over at the Blues.
Julian Nagelsmann - 10/1
Former RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann is another head coach who has been linked with Chelsea in recent years.
Now, the head coach of Germany's national team, the 38-year-old is still one of the most exciting young bosses in the game.
Manchester United have reportedly played down talk of a move for the German, which could pave the way for Chelsea.
Oliver Glasner - 11/1
Oliver Glasner is another Premier League boss who is on his way out of his current club. The Crystal Palace boss has guided the Eagles to an FA Cup triumph last season and they're in the semi-finals of the Conference League.
The Austrian has a brilliant reputation and already has plenty of experience in the Premier League.
He'll be available on a free this summer and is 11/1 to take over at Stamford Bridge.
Outside bets
Those names aren't the only ones linked with the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge, and it'll come as no surprise to see Frank Lampard linked with a return to the Blues.
He's 12/1 to return to London, having helped steer Coventry City to promotion. PSG boss Luis Enrique is 14/1, while Aston Villa boss Unai Emery is 20/1. Interim boss McFarlane is also 20/1 to take over on a permanent basis.
