Dominik Szoboszlai has been urged to ignore any potential interest from Real Madrid and stay put at Liverpool.

The midfielder has been one of, if not the outstanding, player in what has been a disappointing season for the Reds so far, with his reliability and consistency seeing him being utilized in various positions by Arne Slot.

And his performances have not gone unnoticed, with Szoboszlai having been tentatively linked with a move to the Bernabeu - the latest in a long line of Liverpool players to be touted for the Spanish giants, with Trent Alexander-Arnold of course having made the switch last summer.

Despite his growing reputation, Szoboszlai has been urged not to follow his former teammate to the Spanish capital. Former Hungary international Vilmos Sebok has warned his compatriot that he could struggle to make the same impact for Real as he has at Anfield.

“I don’t think Dominik should think about a move,” Sebok told Blikk.

“He has earned himself huge recognition at Liverpool in a very short time. We can safely say that he is one of the most decisive players. On the other hand, if he goes to Real Madrid...

“I’m not saying that they would bench him, but he would definitely have to rebuild his authority. I think he is in a very good place at Liverpool now.”

Despite his fine form this season, Szoboszlai remains unsatisfied with Liverpool’s current situation. The Reds find themselves in a battle just to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, with their title defense having looked to have ended a long time ago.

“I feel like I am at my peak in my career, I would say: working hard day by day, game by game. Just trying to help the team, give my best and enjoy playing football,” Szoboszlai told the club’s website ahead of the game against Arsenal.

Asked if this is the best period of his Liverpool career, Szoboszlai responded: “Well, no, because the team is not doing as well as I would like it to.

“I cannot enjoy it as much as I would enjoy it if we would also win the games and be in the same position like, for example, last season. But that's the aim. That's what we are aiming for.”

Szoboszlai added in another interview with Sky Sports: "We are trying to get back where we belong, and I don't just mean in the league position," Szoboszlai continued. "We would like to play the same football as last season.

"Other teams saw us and felt us last season, so they try to hurt us in every way they can. If you want to fight for everything, you have to find a solution."
