Rangers legend Kris Boyd insists former Liverpool and Premier League manager Brendan Rodgers "knows how to win trophies" as he tipped Celtic to claim the league title once again this campaign.
Celtic currently sits second in the table behind Hearts after securing five victories and two draws from the team's opening seven games. Both clubs remain well ahead of Rangers in the standings, with Boyd's former side struggling in eighth place following a disappointing start under the recently fired Russell Martin.
As the Gers continue their search for a new manager - with Steven Gerrard turning down the chance to return to Ibrox - Boyd remains convinced that Celtic, managed by Rodgers, will extend its Scottish dominance for another season, despite recent stumbles domestically and in Europe.
The former Rangers striker told Sky Sports: "But I do think Rangers will improve. Is it going to be enough to win the league?"
"Probably not, because of Celtic, the way they are. Brendan Rodgers knows how to get things done. He knows how to win trophies. It's going to be difficult.
"Do I expect Rangers to improve? Yeah, I do."
Looking toward the team's upcoming schedule, Celtic faces challenging away matches against Dundee and Hearts before October concludes, with Europa League encounters and a semifinal clash against Rangers at Hampden squeezed between the team's league commitments.
Following a dramatic last-gasp 3-2 victory over Motherwell before the international break, Rodgers was swift to acknowledge that the "Celtic feeling" remains absent within his squad at present.
He said: "Clearly it's a very important win for us.
"The players showed an unbelievable amount of heart. We showed a real strong mentality today and real competitive grit.
"Even though we're not at our levels we've shown in the past, you still have to win.
"The guys coming into the game brought an energy, mentality and fitness to the game.
"There's no doubt there's a feeling that isn't quite what I would say is the Celtic feeling. We're nowhere near our level, I can be clear on that.
"However, while you're searching for it and looking to grow and settle players in, it's important you win."
