Galatasaray may have some added incentive to beat Liverpool in the Champions League, with Victor Osimhen claimed to have negotiated a huge bonus for the club’s players.

The Reds will host their Turkish opponent at Anfield next week, when they will be aiming to overturn a 1-0 deficit after defeat in the first leg of their last-16 encounter in Istanbul.

Despite already losing to Galatasaray twice this season, Arne Slot’s side is still the favorite to reach the quarter-finals among some pundits — although the reigning Super Lig champion may have just been handed some extra motivation to knock Liverpool out of the competition.

According to reports in Turkey, the club’s star striker, Osimhen, has negotiated a €5 million ($5.7M) bonus for the squad should they reach the next round, having been handed similar bonuses already this season.

“After the victory [in the first leg] Osimhen told president Dursun Ozbek, who entered the locker room, ‘If we advance to the next round, let’s make the bonus €5 million,' and the president agreed,” Turkish journalist Ali Naci Kucuk said per SkySpor.

“The management set a €1.5 million bonus for the Besiktas derby, and the team won. A €2 million bonus was set for the Juventus play-off, and they advanced.

“A bonus of around €750,000 to €1 million will be announced for the Basaksehir match [on Saturday]. What does that make in total? €9.5 million.

“The president, along with Abdullah Kavukcu, promised, ‘Beat Basaksehir, eliminate Liverpool, and the entire bonus package will be in your account at the end of the month.’”

Osimhen has already spoken of his confidence that Galatasaray can finish the job off at Anfield, despite the club’s supporters having been banned from traveling to Merseyside next week.

"We are a family together with the Galatasaray fans,” Osimhen told TNT Sports after his side’s win in the first leg. “We did a very good job today. I think we can hurt Liverpool in the second leg. We have done a good job so far."

Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk, though, has insisted Liverpool remains the favorite to advance, having predicted a much different test for his side at Anfield.

“The away game will be different, but we will take the field with the same spirit, hunger, and determination. We will try our best just like we did today,” Buruk said.

“Every side in the last-16 is here on merit, but Liverpool remain the favorites to advance.”
