Shortly after stepping down as Liverpool head coach in May 2024, Jurgen Klopp was appointed as the head of global football at Red Bull
Chelsea did not enquire about the availability of Jurgen Klopp, football.london understands that. The former Liverpool boss' agent, Marc Kosicke, recently claimed that the Blues approached his client following his departure from Anfield in May 2024.
In an interview with Transfermarkt, he also suggested that Klopp could have managed England or the United States Men's National Team. The German spent nine years at Liverpool before becoming the head of global football for Red Bull.
When asked whether Klopp could return to management, Kosicke said: "Maybe at some point he'll say he needs to smell the locker room again. But at the moment, he's very, very happy in his role.
"Before joining Red Bull, Jürgen could have coached the United States or England. Probably also Germany, if Julian Nagelsmann hadn't already been there."

Mauricio Pochettino replaced Gregg Berhalter in the USMNT dugout in September 2024, while the FA appointed Thomas Tuchel as England head coach in January 2025. Klopp's agent added: "Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, although Jürgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England.
"These inquiries keep coming. He's extremely happy with what he's achieved. And it's still wonderful to go down in history as one of the few coaches who only managed three clubs and were never fired."
Chelsea named Enzo Maresca as their new boss in June 2024; a month later, Manchester United handed Erik ten Hag a new contract after defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Back in October 2025, Klopp said he didn't plan to return to management.
However, the 58-year-old later suggested that a move back to Liverpool isn't entirely off the cards. Speaking on the Diary of a CEO podcast, he said: "I said I will never coach a different team in England.
"So that means if [Klopp returns] it's Liverpool. So yeah, theoretically it's possible. I love what I do right now; I don't miss coaching. I don't. I mean, I do coach, just different, not players. And I don't miss it.
"I don't miss standing in the rain two-and-a-half, three hours. I don't miss going to press conferences three times a week, having 10-12 interviews a week. I don't miss that."
Shortly after beginning his role at Red Bull, Klopp also ruled out the possibility of coaching any of the company's three teams: RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and New York Red Bulls. Speaking at a media conference in January 2025, he said: "I will not be the coach of a Red Bull team.
"That is a clear commitment. As much as you can give a guarantee, I will not be a coach at all. I am probably the only person in this room who will be asked where are you in five years, I don't have a clue.
"But I will not be a replacement of one of the Red Bull coaches. I hope we can create a structure where these questions will not come up at all."
