Liverpool first assistant coach Sipke Hulshoff was shown a yellow card during Thursday's 0-0 draw away to Arsenal, moments after Mikel Arteta was also booked for his behavior on the touchline.

A fiery game at the Emirates Stadium ended goalless, as Liverpool failed to register a shot on target in a Premier League match for the first time in 16 years. Arsenal also failed to score for the first time at home this season, and both teams showed frustration in the second half.

Gabriel Martinelli sparked a brawl toward the end of the game after shoving an injured Conor Bradley, who left the field on a stretcher. However, before the players began clashing, coaches were disciplined by referee Anthony Taylor.

Liverpool assistant Hulshoff was shown a yellow card for his complaints after Florian Wirtz gave away a free kick. Hulshoff was adamant that it wasn't a foul and denied Wirtz a potential goalscoring opportunity.

That incident came after Arteta was booked by the referee, as the Arsenal head coach was penalized for constantly leaving his technical area. Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard was booked in the first half, but the referee didn't reach into his pocket again until the game was almost over.

After disciplining coaches from both teams, Taylor booked Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, before a brawl broke out moments later. Bradley attempted to clear the ball out of play in injury time, but appeared to twist his knee.

Bradley stayed down on the field, and Martinelli complained as the game was halted. The Arsenal winger shoved the Liverpool defender, and was slammed on Sky Sports by co-commentator Gary Neville.

Neville called Martinelli an "idiot" before adding: "I'm surprised one of the Liverpool players hasn't gone over and had a right pop at him. I'm actually fuming with Martinelli.

"Honestly, I don't know how Liverpool players didn't go over and absolutely whack him, to be honest with you." Martinelli was booked for shoving Bradley, and Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate was shown a yellow card for retaliation.

Fans on social media have also called out Martinelli for his actions, but Arteta was quick to defend the Arsenal star after the game. "Probably he doesn't know because knowing Gabi, there is zero intention," Arteta said.

"I don't know what happened to Conor, but hopefully it's not bad, but obviously, there is no intention from Gabi to do anything bad to him."

However, former Premier League star Roy Keane sided with Neville on Sky Sports. "I didn't like it. It's happened to me when I was badly injured, and a player stood over me, and it's not good," Keane said.

"First of all, throwing the ball at him, and he puts a little knee in him to try force him off. I'm surprised the Liverpool players didn't react to Martinelli more. I think that behaviour is an absolute disgrace. Not good scenes. Hopefully, Martinelli apologizes for it."
