Liverpool is considering approaches for three of its young players, while Harvey Elliott and Kostas Tsimikas could both also leave the club before the transfer window closes.
Elliott did not start a single meaningful Premier League game last season, while Tsimikas is surplus to requirements at Anfield following the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. Elliott is the subject of interest from RB Leipzig, but the German club is yet to make a concrete offer for the England Under-21 star.
It is believed that Elliott is viewed by Leipzig as a possible candidate to replace Xavi Simons, who is reported to be the subject of interest from Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Tsimikas is no longer required at Anfield after Arne Slot settled on Kerkez and Andy Robertson as his left-back options.
Speaking in June, Tsimikas said that there was a temptation within him to play more frequently at another club, but maintained that he was happy playing a bit-part role for the Reds.
"It's definitely a temptation to play more," Tsimikas said.
"I'm happy here, for five years I've always been happy with these players I had by my side and with the jersey I wore.
"But for me the 27-29 games I play every year in all competitions are more than playing 40 for another team and in another league.
"Here I am on the Broadway of football."
However, the situation — from the club's perspective, at least — has changed.
There is no need for the club to have three senior left-backs on the wage bill.
As for his potential next destination, The Athletic reports that Tsimikas is unlikely to join another club in the Premier League, with a move to another country likely.
The three youngsters that Liverpool is reportedly considering approaches for are Lewis Koumas, James McConnell, and Kaide Gordon.
Sheffield United, Hull City, Wrexham, and Preston North End are among the clubs keen on Koumas; West Bromwich Albion, Oxford United, Hull, and Sturm Graz are keen on McConnell; Swansea City and Derby County are pursuing Gordon.
