Liverpool gets Alexander Isak boost as Chelsea makes transfer U-turn

7 hours ago 25

Chelsea is contemplating a loan deal for Nicolas Jackson before the transfer deadline next week, provided that the interested clubs agree to a future purchase clause in the agreement.

Jackson, 24, is open to the idea of departing Stamford Bridge prior to the closure of the summer transfer window next week. The Senegalese star, who has netted 30 goals in 81 matches since joining Chelsea, is not short of suitors.

Both Aston Villa and Newcastle are keen on retaining Jackson's services within the Premier League. If Newcastle swoops for Jackson, that could pave the way for Alexander Isak to finally join Liverpool after weeks of speculation.

Previously, it was suggested that Chelsea would only entertain permanent offers for Jackson, having already strengthened its attacking line-up with the signings of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer.

However, as the transfer deadline looms, it appears that stance may have softened.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea is now willing to consider loan offers for Jackson, provided there is an obligation to make the move permanent included in the deal.

The report further suggests that Chelsea was hoping to postpone any decision regarding Jackson's future until the situation with Newcastle's Isak had been clarified, with the ongoing saga involving the Swedish international and the Magpies contributing to a merry-go-round this summer.

Chelsea's shift in position could enhance Bayern Munich's prospects of securing Jackson, and the German team is believed to have conducted discussions regarding a loan arrangement in recent days.

Napoli represents another club maintaining an active interest in Jackson.

Enzo Maresca confirmed prior to Friday's triumph over West Ham that Jackson was among several players permitted to depart Chelsea.

He stated: "He [Jackson] is available, but he is not going to be part of the squad.

"Because as we already said, we have two strikers, we have two players in that position, and also we know that something can happen before the transfer window closes.

"Christo [Nkunku] is with us, like Nico. But it's the same answer. The other two players [Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling] are training apart, waiting for a solution. We'll see if they're going to be here, they're going to be with us.

"In case they are not here it means they have found a solution. At the end I think it's always better if they can find a solution because I think they are going to be more happy and the club the same."
