Liverpool injury latest and return dates as two players could return vs Nottingham Forest

1 hour ago 17

Liverpool’s players will be returning to Merseyside following what was a hectic international break for some of them, but there’s no time to rest as the Reds resume their Premier League campaign.

Arne Slot’s side faces Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and the good news for the Liverpool boss is that he seemingly has no new injury concerns following the break - he will confirm whether that is the case in his press conference on Friday.

The even better news is that he could be about to receive a major double boost, with two big players potentially in the running to make their returns to the side at the weekend, including Alisson Becker.

Here is the latest on the injury front for Liverpool ahead of the game against Forest.

Alisson Becker

Alisson could be in line to reclaim his spot in goal against Forest, with the Liverpool goalkeeper expected to resume training ahead of the game (as per The Standard).

The Brazilian has been out since limping off against Galatasaray with a hamstring problem, but he looks set to join his teammates in training as they return from the international break.

Slot himself indicated that Alisson would be back in contention to face Forest, so even if he isn’t deemed quite ready for Saturday, it seems he will be back soon.

Possible return date: November 22 vs Nottingham Forest

Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak made his first appearance since being forced off against Eintracht Frankfurt last month when he came off the bench for Sweden against Switzerland last weekend.

Although he wasn’t called upon during Tuesday’s game against Slovenia, that’s not thought to be down to his fitness, with Graham Potter instead not risking him with the threat of suspension hanging over him.

Having made the squad against Manchester City then, Isak could be in line to make his return to the Liverpool side against Forest.

Jeremie Frimpong

Jeremie Frimpong remains out for the weekend, and his return is expected to take a little longer. The Netherlands international picked up a hamstring problem during the first half of last month's win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Given that occurred a few weeks after Alisson's injury, it'd be safe to assume Liverpool will have to wait until at least December for the right-back to be back in contention, and even then, he may need to be eased back in a bit more than the goalkeeper.

Possible return date: December

Giovanni Leoni

We won't be seeing Giovanni Leoni again this season, with the young defender's debut campaign for the Reds cruelly cut short during his first appearance for the club.

The Italian has undergone surgery after suffering a tear in his ACL against Southampton, so he'll be looking to next season to make his comeback, and he'll need to be given as much time as he needs.

Possible return date: 2026/27 season

Stefan Bajcetic

Stefan Bajcetic has had virtually no luck when it comes to injuries since he made his breakthrough during the 2022/23 season. What looked to have been such a promising career has been put on hold for a long time now, leaving some doubts about his future at Anfield.

Fortunately, the 21-year-old has been back out on the grass in training following surgery in the summer, and the next step for him will likely be minutes with the U21s, although the club will have to remain patient with him given his recent injury record.

Jayden Danns

Jayden Danns has been equally unlucky when it comes to injuries over the last year or so. A potential loan move last summer never materialized, and although he secured a temporary switch to Sunderland a few months later, he was unable to make a single appearance for the Black Cats.

Just a couple of months into the current season, injury struck again, and it has been suggested that Danns will miss the remainder of 2025 through his hamstring problem. The Daily Mail reported that the striker is in good spirits, although U21s boss Rob Page was unable to give a potential return date when asked recently.

Possible return date: Unknown
