Liverpool news as Joelinton can't hide his true feelings over Alexander Isak's transfer plea

2 hours ago 1

Newcastle's Joelinton has shown his support for a fan's social media post regarding the Alexander Isak situation.

The Magpies and the 25-year-old Swede are currently at an impasse over his future, with Isak refusing to play for the club again due to interest from Liverpool. However, Newcastle is adamant that he is not on the market.

On Tuesday, Isak took to social media to voice his frustration about what he termed as "broken promises" during his tenure at St. James' Park. A few hours later, the club issued a statement reiterating its commitment to retaining the player. "We are disappointed to have been alerted to a social media post by Alexander Isak this evening," the statement read.

"We are clear in response that Alex remains under contract and that no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer.

"We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes and we listen to their views.

"As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into consideration the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and our supporters in all decisions and we have been clear that the conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired.

"We do not foresee those conditions being met.

"This is a proud football club with proud traditions and we strive to retain our family feel.

"Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates."

In the midst of the rumors, Newcastle's fan group 'Wor Flags' responded on Instagram to Isak's statement.

The post's caption appears to be directed at Isak, stating: "Idolised and adored.

"No promises broken by the fans that make this club. We deserve better than the destructive path you've chosen.

"Newcastle United will never be defeated."

Newcastle's midfielder Joelinton was among those who showed their support for the post by liking it, with fans expressing their dissatisfaction toward the striker, while others praised the club for its positive handling of the situation so far.
