Liverpool's 15-year-old prodigy bags another goal after Arsenal and Chelsea transfer links

While Liverpool's senior team may have been struggling, there was a glimmer of positivity from the Academy over the weekend.

Two young Reds showcased their development by netting goals for the under-18s in their U18 Premier League Cup victory at Newcastle United on Saturday.

Josh Abe, the 15-year-old winger who has recently made his mark at this level, and 17-year-old forward Josh Sonni-Lambie both found the back of the net in the 2-1 win at the Little Benton Academy.

Despite Liverpool already being knocked out of the competition following earlier defeats to Aston Villa and Leicester City, Simon Wiles's side were playing for pride.

They managed to secure a two-goal lead before half-time.

Sonni-Lambie assisted the first goal, setting up Abe, who has reportedly caught the attention of Arsenal and Chelsea, to slot into the bottom corner for his third goal in the past five weeks.

Sonni-Lambie then added his own name to the scoresheet, bagging his 12th goal of the season with a right-footed strike from outside the box.

Newcastle's Matthew Taylor clawed one back with 20 minutes left on the clock.

And even though Liverpool saw Haydn Murray-Holme sent off in stoppage time for a second yellow card, the visitors clung on for the win to finish third in Group B.

Liverpool's FA Youth Cup third-round fixture against Charlton Athletic is set to take place at Kirkby on Saturday, December 13.

A number of Liverpool U18s are anticipated to participate when a U19 team faces PSV Eindhoven in their second-to-last UEFA Youth League opening stage match at the Academy on Wednesday.
