England defender Marc Guehi has disclosed that he harbours a secret ambition to become a WWE wrestler.
The 25-year-old Crystal Palace center-back revealed he was raised watching professional wrestling entertainment. Guehi has been linked with a summer transfer to Liverpool after helping Palace win the FA Cup and Community Shield.
Guehi mentioned he's a "good waffler on the mic," and enjoys the concept of "making people believe you're the bad guy or the good guy." He told the BBC Football Daily podcast: "Do you know what, I'm not any good, but I would love to be a WWE wrestler or something like that.
"Growing up, watching WWE. It's actually on Netflix. I've seen some pay-per-views, the ones on Netflix, actually, yeah.
"I would love to be like a WWE wrestler, I'm not any good.
"It can be dangerous, obviously it is scripted, but yeah, the performance side of it... Being able to just waffle, I feel like I'm a good waffler on the mic, and making people believe you're the bad guy or the good guy."
Guehi won't be retiring his soccer boots anytime soon if he has his way, though - he mentioned in a perfect scenario, he'll continue playing until he reaches 40 years old.
Last week, we reported how Palace has identified a potential successor for Guehi should his move to Liverpool materialize during the final stages of the summer transfer window.
Liverpool initiated discussions with Palace regarding a deal for Guehi last week and continues to show interest in securing the England player.
The Reds have acquired Giovanni Leoni from Parma, but they still desire Guehi to strengthen their choices in central defence.
The reigning Premier League champions have splashed around $400 million this summer.
Guehi's contract with Palace is set to expire in less than a year, and the club is open to letting him go.
But the Eagles are sticking to their guns on their £45 million ($60.9 million) valuation. Liverpool is reluctant to shell out more than £35 million ($47.3 million) for the center-back, and it's this discrepancy that's causing the talks to stall.
Nonetheless, Palace is scouting for replacements, with The Independent suggesting that Rennes star Jeremy Jacquet is being considered as a potential option.
