Liverpool has been encouraged to pursue a deal for West Ham striker Jarrod Bowen as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah.
The iconic winger shocked the soccer world last month by confirming his departure at the end of the season following a trophy-filled stint at Anfield. Replacing the Egyptian talisman will be no simple task.
However, former Red John Aldridge, who netted 64 goals in 104 appearances for the club, reckons the Hammers forward possesses the qualities needed to step into Salah's shoes. Arne Slot's prospects of securing the player could also improve if West Ham is relegated this season. The Liverpool legend's remarks mirror those of former manager Jurgen Klopp, who similarly praised Bowen, 29.

I joined Liverpool when I was 28 or 29.
"There are a good couple of years left in him. I've been saying this to a lot of ex-players for a couple of years now. He would fit the bill whenever Mo was ready to go, and even now, you still get a couple of good years at least out of him.
"If West Ham stay up, then it would be hard to get him, and he's probably not what the owners look at, age-wise. But again, I'm a bit of a dinosaur, so why not?

"For what's out there, if, hypothetically, we were to get him, he could get you 15 goals a season and a lot of assists. But it might not fit the makeup of the club, sadly.
"Jarrod Bowen is a more solid option than [RB Leipzig star] Yan Diomande because he's used to the Premier League, he's used to British life. He's a lot older. A young lad coming in, it's tough, especially at that age.
"For someone to take over from Mohamed Salah. It's got to be someone solid, someone who's done it. Ticks all the boxes, has experience. Someone with pace, we need pace. Mo has lost a bit of pace, we need that up top. That is the criteria."
Liverpool's former German manager was never one to hide his admiration for the Hammers' talisman.
Ahead of a Carabao Cup clash between the two sides in December 2023, Klopp described Bowen as "probably my favorite player besides my players", before adding: "It's just great what he's doing and how he develops."
These remarks followed the former Reds boss having lavished praise on the goalscorer back in November 2021, when he said: "I like Bowen a lot.
"He made his way up from Hull and took not too long to get there, to show exactly what kind of player he can be in the Premier League as well."
Several months on, Klopp enthused: "Bowen, what a player he became, unbelievable. We saw him at Hull as well, and he was really good that time, but I'm not sure many people expected this jump. Unbelievable player."
