Luis Diaz transfer latest - Liverpool's $93M stance and Bayern Munich 'meeting'

4 hours ago 36

The coming weeks will be crucial for Liverpool and Luis Diaz, as the Reds navigate interest from European competitors, with Bayern Munich seemingly leading the chase for the winger.

Liverpool had to reject a £58.5 million ($68 million) bid for its Premier League-winning star from Bayern. While there are no active plans to extend Diaz's contract beyond 2027, he remains an integral part of Arne Slot's strategy, having demonstrated his versatility in addressing issues in the forward line last season.

The Reds are hoping to add a new striker to Slot's roster in the near future, as Hugo Ekitike continues to be linked with the Merseyside club. Despite Liverpool's firm stance on Diaz, interest may persist. Here are the latest rumors linking the Colombian with the next phase of his career.

Bayern meeting

Christian Falk suggests that Bayern Munich is hopeful of persuading Liverpool to sit down and discuss Diaz's future.

BILD echoes this sentiment, suggesting progress is being made and that agreeing on personal terms for a four-year contract with a salary of €14 million ($16.3 million) should pose no issue.

So far, all Bayern has received from the Reds is rejection.

An initial approach in early July was immediately dismissed because the player is not up for sale. A subsequent $68 million bid was also swiftly turned down.

However, Bayern appears determined about this potential deal and believes that meaningful discussions between the clubs can commence if the proposed fee is substantial enough.

$93M transfer

Falk also hints at a belief in Germany that an increased offer of €80 million ($93 million) could bring Liverpool to the negotiation table.

Bayern has this and more funds available, as it's explained that ample resources have been allocated to also secure the €65 million ($75.6 million) signing of VfB Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade.

Next Liverpool transfer tipped

Liverpool's pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt's Ekitike doesn't seem to be the end of its plans to strengthen its attack, especially with several senior stars linked with departures.

Adding to this, talkSPORT suggests that should Diaz leave, Liverpool would target Real Madrid's Rodrygo.

The same outlet reports that initial discussions have taken place between Anfield and Santiago Bernabeu bosses over a player who first appeared on the Reds' radar as a 16-year-old, eight years ago, and who now faces renewed uncertainty about his long-term role in Xabi Alonso's plans.

Arsenal and other top European teams have shown interest in the Brazilian international.
