Roberto De Zerbi will not join Tottenham this month in latest manager twist

Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed what his sources are telling him about the chances of Roberto De Zerbi taking over at Tottenham with immediate effect.

While sources suggest that Roberto De Zerbi is Tottenham’s top target, there is a lack of clarity on whether the Italian would be available to start immediately.

Earlier today, The I Paper claimed that De Zerbi has expressed a willingness to take the Spurs job right now, in the midst of a relegation scrap.

The outlet asserted that the Italian coach is feeling refreshed after a small break since his exit from Marseille and would ‘relish’ the opportunity to take charge of Tottenham, as he eyes a return to the Premier League.

Roberto De Zerbi will not join Tottenham right now

However, Gianluca Di Marzio has now claimed that the Lilywhites tried to convince De Zerbi to take over when they parted ways with Thomas Frank, and are now making a ‘second attempt’ as they consider sacking Igor Tudor.

The journalist reveals that the 46-year-old coach has not only received offers from Tottenham Hotspur but also from other clubs, but he prefers to wait until the summer.

De Zerbi plans to ‘calmly evaluate his options at the end of the season’ rather than jumping into any job right now.

De Zerbi has not specifically rejected Spurs

Di Marzio goes on to explain that De Zerbi’s reluctance to take over at Tottenham is not a specific rejection of the Premier League club.

The Italian coach’s decision to take a break until the summer is unrelated to the type of offers that he has received or the clubs that have contacted him.

This has also been backed up by Fabrizio Romano, who has stated that De Zerbi is open to discussing a move to Tottenham in the summer.
