Liverpool emerged victorious in a tumultuous Premier League match against Tottenham, which saw Cristian Romero and Xavi Simons both receive red cards. Goals from Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike secured the win for Arne Slot's team, despite a late goal from Richarlison creating a tense finish.

A defeat for the Lilywhites has seen them end the day in 13th with just two home victories this season. The first half was marked by controversy as Simons was sent off for a reckless tackle on Virgil van Dijk.

With Liverpool enjoying a numerical advantage, Isak replaced Conor Bradley at the interval and he found the back of the net just 11 minutes into the second half.

However, his third goal of the season was marred by an injury sustained during Micky van de Ven's attempted block. Ekitike then extended Liverpool's lead with a header, but they were unable to maintain a clean sheet as Richarlison managed to score, reducing their lead.

Though Spurs failed to grab an equaliser, there was another big talking point in the latter stages as Romero was sent off for kicking out at Ibrahime Konate with a response to that dismissal issued.
