Three winners and three losers from Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest

Tottenham Hotspur were humiliated by Nottingham Forest for a second time this season, but at least the fans did their bit ahead of the fixture.

Here are the three winners and losers from Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Archie Gray has been Tottenham’s most consistent performer

Spurs may have been dreadful against Nottingham Forest, but at least Archie Gray actually tried to make a difference for his team.

Gray has been Tottenham’s best performing player in recent weeks and he played some decent passes during the Sunday afternoon defeat.

Kevin Danso did not have too bad a game for Spurs

Kevin Danso was not at his best yesterday, but he did make five interceptions, some of which may have prevented Forest from scoring.

In fact, Danso made 11 defensive contributions in total, compared to just 6 from Cristian Romero and one from Micky Van de Ven.

Right now, the Austrian actually lookes like his team’s most competent centre-back. Whether this is due to his own performances or those of his teammates, remains up for debate.

The Tottenham fans deserved a much better showing

It was brilliant to see the pre-match scenes surrounding the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as the fans turned in in large numbers to welcome their team.

Unfortunately, this transititoned into booing and a half empty ground before the match had ended, but who could possibly blame those fans? They showed up and did their best, unlike the players they were backing.

Now, onto the three losers of the match…

Micky van de Ven was taken off at half-time

Spurs fans were fantasising about good Micky van de Ven would be at left-back earlier in the season, but he did very little there on Sunday.

The Dutchman lasted only 45 minutes on the pitch, before being replaced by Destiny Udogie. Once again, van de Ven has looked a shadow of his former self.

Cristian Romero has not helped fix the Spurs defence

Tottenham supposedly have two world class cente-backs, but it is hard to argue this case when they are shipping three goals against teams like Nottingham Forest.

Despite the presence of Cristian Romero, Spurs were a mess in defence and continue to be a very easy team to break down.

Mathys Tel picked up an injury

Mathys Tel attempted plenty of runs and was involved quite a bit, until he was removed in the 67th minute due to picking up an injury.

This is such a shame for the Frenchman, as he has looked like one of Tottenham’s best players over the past month or so.
