Journalist Pete O’Rourke has provided a significant update on the likelihood of Jonathan David swapping Juventus for Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Spurs allegedly explored signing David on a free transfer last summer after the striker’s contract with Lille ran out.
It was Juventus who won the race for the Canadian international last summer, but things have not gone according to plan for the forward since his move to Serie A.
Tottenham were credited with an interest in David ahead of the January window as well, and over recent weeks, some sources have claimed that Spurs could try again to land Juve striker in the summer.

Juventus’ league finish could dictate Tottenham’s pursuit of Jonathan David
Journalist Pete O’Rourke has now confirmed that the 26-year-old has been on the North London club’s radar for a long time.
He suggested that Tottenham’s chances of landing the forward would be boosted if Juventus qualify for the Champions League, as that would push the Italian giants to significantly upgrade their squad this summer.
O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Tottenham are long-term admirers of David. They were interested before he made that free transfer to Juventus last summer. He has struggled, it’s fair to say, since his arrival as Juve aren’t having the best of seasons. He’s scored seven goals in 39 appearances, just 16 starts in Serie A.
“But he’s under contract until 2030, so it won’t be an easy deal to do for any club interested in signing Jonathan David. A lot could depend on where Juventus find themselves in the summer, if they’re in the Champions League or not. If they are in the Champions League, it will give them more money to spend to strengthen their squad, and that could mean David is pushed out.”
Two other Premier League clubs battling Spurs for David
Just a few days ago, a report from Italy claimed that the former Lille man’s future is now appearing ‘increasingly distant’ from Turin.
The update, which came from TuttoSport, also revealed that West Ham and Nottingham Forest are prepared to challenge Tottenham for David’s signature this summer.
The outlet asserted that Lyon are also exploring a deal to take the centre-forward back to Ligue 1 after just one season in Italy.
